Buffalo Through Their Eyes 2011
Journey’s End is hosting Buffalo Through Their Eyes, on Thursday, October 6 in the lower lobby of the Tri-Main Center (2495 Main Street, Buffalo, NY). The show will feature the photographs of up to 15 refugee artists documenting their lives including their families, schools, workplaces, and community. It’s an opportunity for our clients to express themselves through art and showcase our important work of welcoming refugees to the community.
The project includes training from CEPA in framing and shooting photographs, with bi-weekly discussion and critique of the artists’ work in the months leading up to the show.
Last year’s inaugural show was well received and later exhibited at the Buffalo Historical Museum, and will be featured in an upcoming show at Buffalo State College’s Butler Library next spring. The photographs are often reminiscent of many of our own families’ photos shortly after arriving in the United States, while at the same time giving a fresh and hopeful perspective on the future of Buffalo.
The event will be held from 6-9 PM and tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. They can be purchased on-line or by filling out the form below. Also if you’re with an organization, please consider purchasing an ad or sponsorship. Join as we celebrate the work of our clients and the blessings of resettlement.
