Supervisor: Director of Resettlement
Status: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
Hours Per Week: 20
Pay:$13.50 hourly

Job Description:

The primary responsibilities of the Housing & Donations Assistant are to assist with the care of all housing needs for newly arriving refugees in the Resettlement Department, as well as assist the development team with donation coordination.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Resettlement:
    • Work with appropriate staff to set-up apartments with all program required items.
    • Coordinate flow of donations to match needs of housing setup.
    • Assist with establishing strong relationships with reputable landlords, expanding the pool of available, quality housing.
    • Responsible for all R&P setups and a secondary inspection, as well as preparing case notes for those services.
    • Complete R&P (reception & placement) checklist and R&P supply list.
    • Assists in areas of need based on arrival caseloads (i.e. airport pickup and next day home visit, picking up food pantry boxes).
    • Attend pre-arrival meetings and department meetings.
    • Utilize electronic calendar to organize set-ups.
  • Development:
    • Collaborate with development assistant to schedule donation pickups.
    • Pick up donations using the cargo van throughout WNY.
    • Maintain contact with food pantry and pickup welcome boxes for new arrivals and clients of other JERS programs.
    • Maintain partnership with organizations and donors.
    • Attend development meetings as requested.
    • Share responsibility for supervising Home Again set-ups.
  • Participate in JERS staff meetings and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • The position requires a clean driving record, and the ability to lift up-to fifty pounds. Also should be comfortable driving a large sized vehicle.
  • Highly organized and able to work in face paced environment.
  • Outgoing, friendly personality.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Communicate with donors in professional and assertive manner.
