Journey's End is hosting a "Topsoil Social" on April 27th at the Tri-Main Centerto benefit our Green Shoots for New Americans - Refugee Agricultural Program, which has provided over 50 refugees with the opportunity to learn urban farming methods and earn a small supplemental income. Refugees attend classes to improve their English, learn farming methods, and grow vegetables at an urban farm located in the City of Buffalo. The vegetables they grow contribute to a weekly 20-member CSA, as well as their household meals. The farmers also sell vegetables at a farm stand and to the The Lunch Box, both located in the Tri-Main Center in Buffalo, and at The Downtown Buffalo Country Market. In 2016, the program grew 2,000 pounds of produce and generated over $6,000 in revenue used to supplement the income of the farmers in the program.
